Checkley Medieval Festival - Uttoxeter Promotional Tour

number of dedicated Checkley villagers invaded Uttoxteter on Saturday the 6th August 2005 to help promote Friends of Checkley Church .

Uttoxeter's town crier, handed out leaflets, sold raffle tickets and let off balloons.

Checkley's own Medieval Prince, eight-year-old Joseph Salt, and his Princess, Hannah Taylor, 6,

were in attendance to help extend a warm invitation to the Uttoxeter people.

The event was organised by the Checkley Awarness Committee with the help of the members of St Mary and All Saints Church and Friends of Checkley Church.

Joyce Plant, the Committee spokesman, said "All the money raised by the church and the Friends will go towards the cost of extensive renovation work needed on St Mary's All Saints Church tower which dates back to Norman Times".

"The work will ensure the church's survival for the future."
