The object of the Friends of Checkley Church is the preservation, repair,
maintenance and improvement of the building, fittings and fixtures of
the parish church of Saint Mary and All Saints in the diocese of Lichfield.

Since the inauguration of the Friends in 1996,with their help, grants
have been made for the installation of a mechanical clock, extensive internal
alterations to the tower including facilities for the disabled and external
metal guards for the fourteenth century stained glass windows which are
unique and irreplaceable. They have also paid for the restoration and
relocation of the King George 1 royal coat of arms.
The Committee has arranged several successful money-raising events each
year, including coffee mornings, choral concerts, dances and dancing displays,
talks on birds by local broadcaster David Tideswell
, lectures on aspects of the church's history by members
Fred Johnson, Margaret Johnson and Clive Smith, a historical fashion show
by Notty Hornblower and also concerts by the ever-popular "Young
at Heart" Company and the V.C.O. and Trent Valley Big Bands.
In 2006 the Friends became a fully registered charity (no 1115219).
